Janine Fondon, who was born and raised in New York City, earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Anthropology at Colgate University and received her Masters degree from New York University in Communications and Business – Media Ecology). While at Colgate University, she was a member of the London Study Group that offered key lectures at Oxford, Cambridge and Canterbury universities. She also completed a one-year study program directed by Colgate University at the University of the West Indies (Barbados). Recently, she received an honorary degree from Springfield Technical Community College citing her leadership at WTTC Radio, 90.FM Radio.

Fondon has a proven track record of expertise credited to her 15+ year career in internal communications, strategic public relations, socially-networked outreach and multicultural marketing. Today, as a media ecologist with years of industry experience, Janine enjoys creating classroom environments that explore how communication technologies affect human perception, understanding, feeling, and value. With corporate management experiences at Digital Equipment Corporation, BankBoston, ABC-TV (New York and Washington, D.C) and CBS-TV (New York), she brings the realities of the real word into the classroom to better prepare students for competitive life in a digital, STEM-driven and diverse world.

Fondon is President and CEO of UnityFirst.com, a 2 million+ online communication network that engages people in ‘real-world’ topics and events relating to diversity and inclusion as well as specializes in multimedia news distribution and multicultural outreach. UnityFirst.com, with the leadership of Janine Fondon and her husband Tom, has been recognized for developing a broad portfolio of products and services -- thus helping companies reach the ‘front page’ in mainstream, emerging and multicultural markets and media.

With a love for mentoring the next ‘great’ generation, Fondon and her husband co-founded the Digital Ambassadors Educational Leadership program that is designed to improve the competencies of middle and high school students in the areas of communication, diversity, leadership and technology. Over the years, she has received numerous awards as well as has been noted in major regional and national publications including FORTUNE, ENTREPRENEUR, Forbes, Black Enterprise, Upscale, Boston Globe, XM Radio, MassLive, BusinessWest and was the founding contributor to the Forbes Custom web site on diversity and inclusion.

Janine really does believe that we all should be the change that we wish to see in the world
